Annual Meeting
At what single event can you drop off old electronics for recycling, bring antiques to be appraised, eat supper, enjoy live entertainment, check your blood pressure, enjoy a healthy-cooking demo, get a mini massage, take a zany self portrait, enter a drawing for college scholarships and more?
At Kenergy’s Annual Meeting, of course.
The co-op will host its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 11, at Henderson County High School’s auxiliary gymnasium. The activities start at 4 p.m. The business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
First, let’s talk about entertainment. Into the Blue, a band that performs a combination of bluegrass and gospel, is set to play. A caricature artist and photo booth are also on tap.
In addition, Kenergy Kollectibles — a spin-off of WNIN’s popular Antiques Roadshow — will return this year.
“Antiques Roadshow is such a popular TV program,” said Renee Beasley Jones, communications and PR manager. “Last year’s Kenergy Kollectibles was a huge success. Many members brought items to be appraised.
“I think most members own a painting, quilt or some family heirloom that always has been a curiosity. Most people don’t know where to take their items for appraisal. We’ll provide the appraisers and ask our members to bring in their collectibles.”
We plan to bring back mini massages, healthy-cooking demonstrations by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension office and the health fair this year, too.
If you own some old electronic equipment you want to recycle — computers, TVs, cell phones, VCRs, DVDs, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, microwaves, digital cameras and more — we can help. GreenWorks Recycling will be at the Kenergy Annual Meeting to take these items (except TVs) for no charge. TVs up to 27 inches will cost $5. Those larger than 27 inches cost $10.
Another recycling vendor will take office paper, junk mail, newspapers, corrugated cardboard, boxboard (except cereal boxes), magazines, and No. 1 and 2 plastics.
As in the past, Kenergy will give out 24 college scholarships worth $500 each. Scholarships are drawn in a lottery-style format. Winners must be present. Recent high school graduates must have a parent or legal guardian in attendance.
Students of all ages may register for scholarships prior to the 6:30 p.m. business meeting. For more details about Kenergy’s college scholarships or Annual Meeting, call (800) 844-4832, extension 6103.
